I am new to the DIY movement, but have become interested in due to thrifting and Pinterest. I purchased 2 wingback chair because I saw a post where you could paint the fabric by mixing it with textile paint (or something like that). Anyway, I tried it and the paint made the chairs unsuitable for sitting (they are hard), I believe the previous owners had already painted the chairs so 2 coats really did them in. At any rate, I like the chairs and want to make them usable, but I have absolutely no IDEA where to start with reupholstering them. Do you have a video for such a project. Purchasing new ones are out of my price range and kind of defeat the purpose of thrifting. Payiing for the reupholstering also, isn't within my budget at the moment not to mention, I'm really looking forward to seeing this project through on my own. As the chair on now, I'll probably need to add something to plump up the seat cushions (or make/cut new ones?), but if also seems as if the I need to warp the old fabric with some foam, padding before I cover it since it's so "scratchy". Oh, did I mention there are tones of decorative "brads" (or whatever they're called)? Please help, I really want to do this myself and will gladly send you guys the before and after photos.
